Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect Sunday killed a trader at the popular Gamboru market in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Boko Haram in two separate attacks on Saturday night, a woman and her
10 year old child were shot dead by some gunmen who stormed their
residence in Zannari, an outskirt of the town and another yet to
identified man was said to have been killed by gunmen in the same
vicinity.
Sources revealed that the gunmen stormed a house in Zannari area around
8:30pm on Saturday and shot dead the woman and her son. It was further
gathered that the gunmen quickly fled the scene and left their victims
in the pool of blood.
In the attack at the Gamboru market which led to the death of a trader,
it was learnt that the incident led to pandemonium as residents had to
scamper for their lives.
The gunmen were said to have heightened the fear of the traders at the market when they shot sporadically into the air to make way for the escape. Both the JTF spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mohammed, and the state Police Command PPRO, ASP Samuel Tizhe, could not be reached last night for confirmation. But the police spokesman however confirmed the killings to BBC Hausa service which was monitored in the town
