Port Harcourt Zonal Dinner for the University of Nigeria at 50 Celebrations will hold on Saturday, April 14, at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.
According to Chairman of the UNN at 50 Anniversary Dinner Local Organizing Committee, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuadigbo, the event is part of the Zonal Anniversary Dinners planned to celebrate the golden jubilee of Nigeria’s first indigenous university.
He said the Dinner is an invaluable opportunity for a reunion of all graduates of the University based in Port Harcourt and the entire Niger Delta region. He added that the occasion would be chaired by eminent jurist and retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, while the Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, is expected as special guest of honour. Mazi Okwuadigbo said other eminent personalities and alumni in the Niger Delta region are also expected to attend.
Also, Prof. D.Fubara and Bedford Fubara will be the guest speakers at the event and Mazi Okwuadigbo added that a number of activities have been planned to make the Dinner a most memorable event.
The Port Harcourt Dinner is part of a series of activities outlined by the University of Nigeria to celebrate its golden jubilee and other Anniversary Dinners have been successfully held in Lagos, Abuja and the United States of America.
Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the UNN @ 50 Celebration, Sir G. Toby said the anniversary series of events to mark the golden jubilee were not only to celebrate the outstanding success of the founding ideals of the University of Nigeria, but also to engender the support of all alumni for the task of transforming the university into a world class citadel of learning. Prof Pat Utomi is the Chairman of the Fundraising Committee for University of Nigeria @ 50.
